3rd Graders' Learning About Rocks

The third graders in the Hawk Class had a rousing time learning about all different types of rocks during their field trip to the Palo Alto Junior Museum on Wednesday, September 6. As part of their hands-on learning experience, the students studied more than twenty different types of rocks up close and worked together to classify the different rocks into igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic rocks. We were enthralled seeing the students learning from the museum instructor to carefully examine the different rocks and collect evidence like real detectives. It’ll be exciting to see how the students will apply these newly-learned skills across different subjects both in and out of the classroom!
