In preparation for their upcoming Taiwan trip in March, our fifth-grade students had the enriching opportunity to visit Tzu Chi’s Northwestern Campus. This visit provided a deeper understanding of Tzu Chi’s mission and its global impact.
The day began with an informative campus tour, where students explored the organization's rich history and core values. The students learned how Tzu Chi’s mission is rooted in clarity and focuses on raising awareness of global issues, advancing medical care, promoting education, and fostering compassion. Through engaging presentations, the students gained insight into the organization's vital work in providing medical aid, disaster relief, and environmental conservation. One particularly fascinating initiative showcased how Tzu Chi repurposes recycled water bottles into sustainable clothing and blankets, highlighting the power of innovation in environmental stewardship.
Following the tour, the students participated in a hands-on experience by preparing vegetarian meals from scratch while also learning about proper dining etiquette. It was inspiring to see them embrace new cultural practices with openness, respect, and curiosity.
This immersive experience not only broadened their understanding of humanitarian efforts but also reinforced the importance of universal values such as gratitude, respect, and love. We hope this visit leaves a lasting impact, encouraging our students to carry these values forward in their daily lives.
